Fable 3: The Pillars of Political Uprightness
The Pillars of Political Uprightness in the Legislature once comlained bitterly of the aspersions being cast on their spotless character by the Purveyors of Pure Bilge and likened their lot to being Pearls before Swine.
The Purveyors of Pure Bilge however, with a suaveness indicative of long practice, retorted that while that might well be, the Pillar on which Political Uprightness was based, was sunk in the Sewers.
The Pillars of Political Uprightness then let fly the retort that that while sunk in the sewers, the Pillar was nonetheless firmly anchored on a bed-rock of quick sand of political opportunism and public apathy, an excellent foundation for many a sterling Political career.
The Purveyors of pure bilge profoundly apologised and retracted their statements and lay down together.
Thus, noted the Wag, was consummated a marriage between a Public Apathy and a Political fiction.
